⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE

LISA Legal AI provides general legal information only and does not constitute legal advice. No attorney-client relationship is created by using this service. By using LISA, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the LISA Legal AI platform (the “Service”), operated by LISA Legal (“we,” “us,” or “our”), you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes become effective upon posting to this page. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

2. Nature of the Service — NOT Legal Advice

LISA Legal AI is an artificial intelligence-powered legal information tool. The Service provides general legal information, educational resources, document templates, and AI-generated content for informational purposes only.

2.1 No Attorney-Client Relationship

Use of the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship, solicitor-client relationship, or any other professional relationship between you and LISA Legal, its affiliates, employees, agents, or technology providers. No privilege (including, but not limited to, attorney-client privilege, work-product doctrine, or any analogous protection under any state, federal, or international law) attaches to any communication made through the Service.

2.2 Not a Substitute for Professional Legal Counsel

The information provided by LISA is not a substitute for professional legal advice from a licensed attorney, solicitor, or other qualified legal professional in your jurisdiction. Laws vary by jurisdiction and change frequently. The Service may not reflect the most current legal developments in all 50 U.S. states, territories, or other jurisdictions. You should always consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction before taking any legal action or making any legal decision.

2.3 AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

All content generated by LISA, including but not limited to chat responses, document templates, legal summaries, resource recommendations, and search results, is produced by artificial intelligence and large language models. AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, omissions, outdated information, or “hallucinations” (fabricated information presented as fact). You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy, completeness, and applicability of any AI-generated content before relying on it.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this eligibility requirement. The Service is not intended for use by minors. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and analogous state laws, we do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 13 years of age.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, OR AVAILABILITY. 8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL LISA LEGAL, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, SUCCESSORS, ASSIGNS, LICENSORS, OR TECHNOLOGY PROVIDERS (INCLUDING AI AND LANGUAGE MODEL PROVIDERS) BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY (CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE), EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

8.1 Specific Liability Exclusions

Without limiting the above, we shall not be liable for any damages resulting from:

  • Your reliance on any information provided by the Service, including AI-generated content;
  • Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in AI-generated documents, summaries, or recommendations;
  • Any legal outcomes, court decisions, or administrative rulings based on information obtained through the Service;

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LISA Legal, its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, successors, assigns, licensors, and technology providers from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees and court costs) arising out of or relating to:

  • Your use of the Service;
  • Your violation of these Terms;

  • Any content you submit through the Service;
  • Your violation of any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right;
  • Any legal action, proceeding, or dispute arising from your use of documents generated by the Service.

10. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration

10.1 Binding Arbitration

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN COURT.

You and LISA Legal agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service (collectively, “Disputes”) shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect. The arbitration shall be conducted by a single arbitrator in the English language.

10.2 Class Action Waiver

YOU AND LISA LEGAL AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of class or representative proceeding.

10.3 Exceptions

Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of intellectual property rights. Additionally, disputes that qualify for small claims court may be brought in small claims court in lieu of arbitration.

10.4 Opt-Out Right

You may opt out of the arbitration and class action waiver provisions by sending written notice within 30 days of first using the Service to: LISA Legal, Attn: Arbitration Opt-Out. Your notice must include your name, address, email, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. To the extent litigation is permitted under these Terms, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware.

12. State-Specific Provisions

12.1 California Residents

Pursuant to California Civil Code § 1789.3, California consumers are entitled to the following specific consumer rights notice: The Service is provided by LISA Legal. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.

12.2 New Jersey Residents

Notwithstanding any provision in these Terms, New Jersey residents shall not be required to indemnify LISA Legal in any circumstance where doing so would violate the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act (N.J.S.A. 56:8-1 et seq.) or other applicable consumer protection statutes. Limitation of liability provisions apply to the extent permitted by New Jersey law.

12.3 Residents of Other States

Certain states (including but not limited to Connecticut, Montana, Vermont, and other states with consumer protection statutes) may provide additional protections that cannot be waived by contract. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any non-waivable rights you may have under your state's consumer protection laws. Where any provision of these Terms conflicts with mandatory provisions of your state's law, the mandatory provisions shall apply.

13. Unauthorized Practice of Law

LISA Legal does not engage in the practice of law. The Service is a technology platform that provides automated legal information. It does not provide personalized legal advice, represent users in legal proceedings, or exercise legal judgment on behalf of any user. The use of the terms “legal assistant,” “legal guidance,” or similar terminology in connection with the Service is for descriptive purposes only and does not imply the provision of legal services by a licensed attorney.

14. Third-Party Services & Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, legality, or availability of any third-party sites or resources. Your interactions with third-party services are solely between you and the applicable third party. We shall not be liable for any damage or loss caused by your reliance on any third-party content or services.

15. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to: Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Dispute Resolution, and Governing Law.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and LISA Legal regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, representations, and warranties, whether oral or written.

18. No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms will be effective only if in writing and signed by LISA Legal.
